The American Association of University Women began in 1881 with 15 college alumnae. Today’s national membership is approximately 170,000, with over 1,000 branches.
The Crystal Lake Area branch was organized in 1957 and is one of 31 branches in Illinois.
The Crystal Lake Area branch offers:
- Programming to promote the mission of AAUW
- Activities designed to provide education, enrichment, and socialization
- Collaboration with local educational institutions to provide opportunities for women
Our branch holds monthly membership meetings from September through May, which include programs on topics such as women’s issues, history, education, international relations, arts, and public policy. The branch also holds a special fundraising luncheon in the spring. Guests are welcome to all activities.
